Phillip Goldstein is Managing Partner of Goldstein Lieberman & Company LLC. He is also Chairman of the Accounting and Auditing Department of Goldstein Lieberman & Company LLC, the accounting and business-advisory firm serving New York, New Jersey and the entire Metropolitan area. Under his leadership, the firm has expanded its capabilities to accommodate the current and future needs of its client base. His understanding of the needs of business owners helps provide clients with useful accounting and reporting systems and financial analysis.
Mr. Goldstein is known for his forward thinking and proactive approach to providing clients with the tools they need to reach their goals. He has been an integral part of assisting many of the regions most prominent businesses succeed in today's business climate. By working closely with business owners and developing familiarity with their organizations, Mr. Goldstein is able to provide them with the knowledge they need to make critical business decisions.
He serves as the Head of the firm's Construction Services Group and is responsible for financial and consulting services provided by Goldstein Lieberman & Company LLC to members of the construction industry. Additionally, as a member of the firm's Law Firm Services Group, Mr. Goldstein is responsible for the planning and coordination of financial reporting services for lawyers and law firms. He also served as Chairman of the Cooperation with the Bankers and Bar Association Committee for the New York State Society of CPAs for over a decade.
On a regular basis, Mr. Goldstein assists clients with a full array of services that include, but are not limited to, business investment/acquisition/divestiture evaluations and structuring, preparation of business plans, extensive financial modeling, private and public financing evaluation and restructuring, and general financial and cash flow counseling. His assistance with financing and performance bonding issues has repeatedly proven to be an invaluable resource to clients.
In addition, he has lead the Goldstein Lieberman & Company LLC team through the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants rigorous professional audit and accounting "Peer Review" program administered by the New York and New Jersey State Societies of CPA's for over two decades.
As the Audit and Accounting Department Chairman he is also responsible for issuing interpretations on Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. His understanding of the deliberations of the Financial Accounting Standards Board serves him well as Chairman of the Technical Issues Committee of an international association of quality CPA firms.
Mr. Goldstein maintains the singular focus of providing clients with tools they need to reach their goals. Indeed, he sees the financial statement as the beginning, not the end result of his efforts. In this regard, he is dedicated to increasing, not simply reporting profitability.
Mr. Goldstein is licensed to practice in New York, New Jersey and Florida. He is a member of the New York and New Jersey State Societies of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. Mr. Goldstein is an officer and member of several boards, including:

In 2011 Mr. Goldstein accepted the prestige RBA Pinnacle Award in front of over 400 business leaders at the Park Ridge, Marriot. Prior recipients of this award were Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Provident Bank, Active International, and Dress Barn Corp. to name a few.
In 2009 Mr. Goldstein accepted the award for Company of the Year from The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce. Other prestigious winners include Sharp Electronics, The Jaguar Corporation, The Konica Minolta Corporation to name a few.
In 2000, Mr. Goldstein was awarded the Volunteer of the Year awarded by the Orange County Chamber of Commerce and received a Certificate of Special Recognition from Congressman Ben Gilman. He has received numerous Certificates of Merit from members of the State Senate and Assembly. He has devoted much time and fundraising efforts to numerous nonprofit organizations in the region. He has served on the boards of Inspire (Orange County Cerebral Palsy Association) and Occupations (one of the area's largest nonprofit organizations.)
Mr. Goldstein is a sought after speaker and author and has spoken to organizations such as Merrill Lynch, CPASNET, Bank of America, the National Association of Remodelers, Inc., Construction University hosted by The American Rental Association-where he received one of the highest possible speaker ratings-and numerous international and nationally-known groups in the construction, manufacturing, distribution and retailing industries. His articles have been published in international, national and local publications, such as Commerce Magazine, Hard Hat News, Rent Smart Magazine, Rental Management Magazine, Equipment World, Inside Business, The Times Herald Record, and The Business Journal. Mr. Goldstein, his wife Linda, and their two sons live in Goshen, New York.
