Co-founder and managing partner, Phil is a hands-on leader who brings unparalleled knowledge and experience to every engagement. His expertise in audit and accounting spans industries such as construction, manufacturing, real estate, professional organizations, medical, retail, electrical contracting, publishing, advertising, and banking. He also has extensive specialized experience in areas of the accounting, tax, valuation and litigation support fields, Phil directly supervises managerial staff of CPAs and oversees the administration of support for local, national and international businesses in order to provide each client with useful accounting and reporting systems and financial analysis.
He assists clients with a full array of services that include, but are not limited to, audits, reviews, compilations, taxes, financing, business investment/acquisition/divestiture evaluations and structuring, preparation of business plans, extensive financial modeling, private and public financing evaluation and restructuring, and general financial and cash flow counseling.
Phil addresses financing and performance bonding issues that has repeatedly proven to be an invaluable resource to clients.
As the Firm’s Audit and Accounting Department Chairman, he is responsible for issuing interpretations on Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Chairman of the Technical Issues Committee of an international association of high ranking CPA firms.
He heads the firm’s Construction Services Group providing financial and consulting services to the construction industry.
In addition, he is a member of the firm’s Law Firm Services Group, responsible for the planning and coordination of financial reporting services for lawyers and law firms. He has served as Chairman of the Cooperation with the Bankers and Bar Association Committee for the New York State Society of CPAs for over a decade.
Phil has led the Goldstein Lieberman & Company LLC team through the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants rigorous professional audit and accounting "Peer Review" program administered by the New York and New Jersey State Societies of CPA’s.
He believes in providing clients with the tools they need to reach their goals, seeing the financial statement as the beginning, not the end result. He is dedicated to increasing, not simply reporting profitability.

As a speaker, he has addressed organizations such as Merrill Lynch, CPASNET, Bank of America, the National Association of Remodelers, Inc., Construction University hosted by The American Rental Association (where he received one of the highest possible speaker ratings) as well as international and nationally-known groups in the construction, manufacturing, distribution and retailing industries.

Pincus has more than five decades of experience helping business owners and has gained a breadth of knowledge with multi-national corporations as well as closely-held, middle-market companies. His background as well as his personal involvement with a diverse range of industries helps him anticipate problems sometimes even before they become apparent to clients. His strength is his ability to maintain his client base; he has retained clients for more than fifty years.
Pincus challenges the myth that children are not as competent in business as their predecessors. Today, he is helping the second and sometimes even third generation of business owners and managers and believes they continue to improve upon past successes, now in a vastly different marketplace.
His primary client industries are retail, real estate and manufacturing with particular emphasis on the manufacturing industry. His areas of expertise are many, with notable strength in tax strategies and planning.
Active in the community, Pincus has served on the board of directors and as an officer of various nonprofit organizations and foundations. Throughout his career he has written numerous articles for various trade magazines on a wide range of subjects from income taxes to accounting issues.
He is an active member of the New York State Society of CPAs, the New Jersey Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs.

A graduate the Baruch School of the City University of New York with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, he began his career as an auditor with the US Armed Forces prior to going into public accounting.
Bruce is a partner in the firm and devotes considerable experience and expertise to tax matters for Goldstein Lieberman & Company’s clients. The son of an accountant, he says he was born into the field, never doubting that it would be his chosen profession. He was employed at BDO Seidman and Laventhal & Horwath before forming Delaney and Margulies LLC and becoming its managing partner. After twelve successful years serving clients in northern New Jersey, Bruce joined forces with Goldstein Lieberman & Company in 2009.
His thorough knowledge of taxation issues encompasses every area, but he emphasizes there is nothing rote or cookie-cutter about the application of his tax expertise. He maintains that no two businesses and no two individuals are ever the same--determining distinct and different tax advantages requires custom designed and tailored planning and reporting. As an advisor, he helps structure trust funds, often to several generations within the family.
Bruce enjoys the synergy that he finds at a larger firm like Goldstein Lieberman & Company, and appreciates the experience of the support staff. He believes all clients benefit from the support and expertise of a larger firm as well.

Bruce graduated with a B.S. in accounting from the University of Maryland. He received his Certified Public Accountant license in 1986.
He lives in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, with his wife and two children.
Ben is a seasoned public accounting professional with almost twenty years experience working with corporate clients and high net-worth individuals. He leads the firm’s Accounting Standards Task Force, which addresses and interprets information impacting financial reporting.
He is experienced in all areas of auditing, accounting, reviewing, compiling and taxation. He is also considered an expert in the preparation of financial statements and audit compliance.
A recognized trainer in all facets of accounting and auditing, Ben has created a series of training courses which provides the accounting and auditing staff with information they will use throughout their professional careers. He works extensively with clients as a profitability consultant helping business owners and management teams prepare cash flow forecasts and establish key profit drivers and benchmarks for their organizations. Utilizing Goldstein Lieberman & Company’s proprietary software, he can quickly identify and implement changes that increase profitability.
An active volunteer, he is past-president and now serves as an executive board member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants where he chaired the Young CPA committee. He has served on the board of the Builders Association. An Eagle Scout, Ben is active in his son’s troop and has served on the board of directors of the Boy Scouts of America. The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan enlisted his expertise on its Professional Advisors Council. Ben also works as a liaison to the accounting departments of local colleges and universities.

Josh is a key member of the firm’s auditing and accounting services practice. Understanding that business owners demand timely data to make quick, correct decisions, he has made a career of providing the entrepreneur with all the precise information on business performance that’s needed to make determinations. He has extensive experience in a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution, real estate, retail and service-based companies.
Josh’s managerial skills have helped him in adhering to quality control of financial statement preparation; training client personnel; and providing accounting and tax technical assistance. He has taught strategic business planning, real estate finance, tax planning throughout the area and is a trainer on these subjects for his firm.
He pursues the firm’s commitment to providing the highest level of service by stressing the importance of identifying clients’ needs and tailoring services to suit. He continually searches for ways to improve efficiencies and root out some of the problems that can create financial distress for a business.

Don joined forces with Goldstein Lieberman & Company in December of 2011. Energized by the synergy that working with the Goldstein Lieberman team has provided, he has helped clients take advantage of even greater opportunities such as new technology, expertise in a variety of fields and even greater support services from one of the region’s largest firms. His area of specialization is taxation—locating opportunities for individuals as well as businesses.
Before merging with Goldstein Lieberman & Company, Mr. English headed his own firm—Donald L. English & Associates—formerly located in Dumont, New Jersey. Mr. English has been a practicing Certified Public Accountant since 1990. He succeeded his father, Raymond English Sr. LPA, in the firm he formed in 1963. Donald L. English and Associates was known for service excellence and Don remains proud of that firm's record of client retention, frequently for two and sometimes even three generations. A sharpshooter and a weight lifter, he is active in the community and is treasurer of the Woodside Cemetery in Dumont.
Don is licensed in New Jersey and Florida. He is a graduate of Pace University’s Westchester campus and lives in Smithfield Township, Pennsylvania.
Doug is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) as well as a Juris Doctor (JD) who brings impressive experience as a tax advisor with an in-depth understanding of tax law, legislation and regulation.
As the Tax Director at Goldstein Lieberman & Company, he is responsible for overseeing a team dedicated to service excellence in tax preparation, planning and consultation. His areas of particular expertise are corporations, partnerships, LLP’s and LLC’s and tax law. Also a specialty is the preparation of Partnership and “C“ and “S“ Corporate tax returns.
He has decades of experience in all of taxation. He has successfully handled countless IRS and state tax audits for business and individual clients. His industry specializations include music, entertainment, theater, manufacturing, distribution, retail, real estate partnerships, law firms, royalty and service enterprises.
Doug is adept at various technological applications of tax programs relating to taxes.
Licensed as a Federal and a New York State attorney, he is also a licensed New York State certified public accountant.
His graduate certificate in Accounting is from Pace University’s Lubin School of Business. He is also a graduate of Pace University’s School of Law with a concentration in tax law. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at Wake Forest University.

Laura made the decision to merge her Ringwood, New Jersey-based firm with Goldstein Lieberman & Company in the fall of 2013. In addition to bringing her entire staff, she brings her own expertise with over twenty eight years in accounting and tax preparation. She estimates that she personally has prepared approximately 25,000 income tax returns, including individuals and small businesses, during her career—a number she says has increased exponentially since becoming a member of Goldstein Lieberman’s rapidly expanding team.
A proponent of service excellence, she believes that expert service grows from knowing a client’s goals, background, and, often, their dreams. She understands the value of interacting on many levels so that clients know they are appreciated and therefore are retained. She also believes in the importance of giving back to the community. Her involvement in her local community is extensive. Laura has dedicated decades of service as a volunteer emergency technician with the Ringwood Ambulance Corps. She is a former president of the Ringwood Chamber of Commerce and is now an officer on its board of directors. She is also an officer with the Zonta Club of Ringwood.
Her lengthy list of ancillary certifications include: Certified Long-Term Care Consultant, Certified Senior Advisor and Retirement Income Certified Professional. She is insurance licensed in New Jersey & New York as well as investment licensed in multiple states.
A member of the New Jersey Society of CPAs, the National Association of Tax Professionals and the National Society of Accountants, Laura has been a licensed New Jersey CPA since 1994.
Her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting is from Montclair State University.

Larry has broad experience performing audits, reviews and compilations of closely-held companies as well as in tax planning and preparation for individuals, various types of business entities, estates and trusts.
His special area of expertise is business and tax consulting predominately for closely held businesses and their owners in areas such as budgeting, cash flow management, accounting systems design, tax minimization, tax collection, and multi-state taxation.
Larry’s professional practice in both the tax and financial consulting areas is characterized by forward thinking and a proactive approach to both tax planning and financial structures. He regularly assists clients with financial services—business valuations, business or investment acquisition/divestiture evaluations and structuring, preparation of business plans, extensive financial modeling, private and public financing evaluation and structuring, and general financial and cash flow counseling. In addition, Mr. Kaufman has been successfully representing clients in tax audits for more than forty years.
A graduate of the City University of New York, he has served on the board of directors of the Glen Rock Jewish Center, serving as treasurer of the Center for six years.
Don has an extensive background in taxation and significant experience in business valuation, real estate development and management, estate planning and asset protection, income tax planning for individuals and business entities, and income tax controversies. He places special emphasis on planning and not simply compliance work, and has received recognition for his expertise serving clients in the real estate development and management area.
He is directly involved with structural tax planning for his client base. His special areas of tax concentration include planning for S corporation and limited liability companies. He also has expertise in acquisition and sale transactions.
Don complements his clients’ operational skills by establishing financial plans for success, monitoring achievement of the plans, and assisting in the day-to-day business decisions. He also assists clients’ management in improving internal controls, accounting systems, financial management, and treating and solving business problems. In addition to serving domestic clients, he utilizes his international tax and finance knowledge for foreign businesses. To achieve the best results, he emphasizes the importance of incorporating financial and tax planning for the business, with planning for the individual owner.

His experience and insight have provided business owners with the effective implementation of sound internal control systems.
Joe has extensive experience providing services to the construction and real estate communities. He represents a large number of businesses in this industry segment and has assisted his clients in establishing quality job costing systems to allow them to manage their business in today’s competitive environment.

A graduate of Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, he lives with his wife and two children in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.
Lisa Marshall joined the firm as office administrator and quickly advanced to an executive position, illustrating superb accounting as well as organizations skills.
At the firm, she oversees day-to-day operations and is responsible for support with all technology, including the proprietary accounting software that distinguishes the Firm’s superior accounting capabilities.
She maintains that a controller must have flexibility to be ready for the challenges that each new project presents--at Goldstein Lieberman and Company, there are no cookie-cutter approaches or solutions.
She is a native of Rockland County and a graduate of Berkeley College. Lisa has worked in the accounting field since 1984.
She lives with her husband and two daughters in New Windsor, New York.
Brian is a CPA as well as an attorney who holds a Master’s Degree in Tax Law (LLM). He is a seasoned professional with over thirty years experience that has ranged from positions as a government tax auditor and tax director of a large real estate company to partnerships in several prestigious New York City accounting firms.
His expertise spans many areas of taxation including partnerships, corporations, trusts and estates as well as high net individuals. He oversees a team of Goldstein Lieberman & Company tax specialists and he often personally assists clients with tax planning issues. He also provides representation, if necessary, with the IRS and various states on tax, audits and/or at the appeals level.
Brian was a past chairman of the Rockland Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants Professional Banker and Attorney Committee.
Among his numerous professional affiliations are the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the NYS Society of CPAs, the American Bar Association and the NYS Bar Association.
He is a New York State Certified Public Accountant and is admitted to the New York State Bar.
