Mr. Maurer, a senior manager at Goldstein Lieberman & Company LLC, has an extensive background in taxation and significant experience in business valuation, real estate development and management, estate planning and asset protection, income tax planning for individuals and business entities, and income tax controversies. Don places an emphasis on planning and not simply compliance work. He has developed a nationally recognized expertise serving clients in the real estate development and management area.

Don is directly involved with structural tax planning for his client base. Special areas of tax concentration include planning for S corporation and limited liability companies. Don also has expertise in acquisition and sale transactions.

Don compliments the existing operational skills of his clients' management by establishing financial plans for success, monitoring achievement of the plans, and assisting in the day-to-day business decisions. He assists clients' management in improving internal controls, accounting systems, financial management, and treating and solving business problems. Furthermore, he serves both a domestic and foreign client base where he utilizes his international tax and finance knowledge. He emphasizes the importance of incorporating the financial and tax planning for the business, with the planning for the individual owner to achieve the best results.

A graduate of Fairleigh Dickenson University, Mr. Maurer began his career with a local New York CPA firm before joining Shapiro & Lieberman in 1966. He is licensed in New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts and resides in Old Tappan with his wife, Peggy.
