FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Phillip Goldstein, managing partner, Benjamin Mills, partner and Lisa Marshall, controller at Goldstein Lieberman & Company LLC, one of the tr-state area’s largest Certified Public Accounting and Business Advisory firms, presented a check for $1,000 to Campbell Hall-based Zylofone in support of their efforts to encourage interactive performing and creative arts to people of all abilities and ages.

Zylofone was founded over ten years ago by Musician Debbie Major when one of her twin sons with disabilities expressed an interest in the performing arts. Mother and son quickly encountered obstacles to entry--there were few opportunities for people with disabilities in the field and there was virtually nowhere to turn for training.

Today, under Ms. Major’s directorship, Zylofone provides a variety of creative arts programs to approximately 400 people each year. The ever-evolving roster of programs encourage participants of all ages and abilities to achieve social engagement, emotional balance and intellectual growth through the transformative experience of music, theater, dance and art. Programs may be held at the Campbell Hall location next to Noble Coffee Roasters Café or at other locations in conjunction with organization serving people with disabilities such as AHRC, Inspire, Independent Living and more.

“We were impressed by the amount of activity compressed into the classrooms at Zylofone,” commented Mr. Goldstein who was on hand for a craft and music classroom as well as a practice session for a guitar student. “We were even more amazed to hear of the breadth of programming available to help people from nursery schools to nursing homes experience the power of music and other performing arts.”

CIANJ RECOGNIZES AND AWARDS GOLDSTEIN LIEBERMAN & COMPANY LLC
The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey Salutes Firm for Corporate Philanthropy

Goldstein Lieberman & Company CIANJ

The Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey in partnership with COMMERCE Magazine saluted Goldstein Lieberman & Company LLC, (GLCPAS), one of New Jersey’s largest and fastest growing business advisory and certified public accounting firms, for corporate philanthropy with a "Good Works Award" at the 2nd Annual Chairman's Reception held on March 11, 2015, at the Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack.

The special reception was dedicated to recognizing extraordinary acts of kindness from member companies and/or their employees for deeds exemplifying the power of generosity—how it can help an individual overcome an ordeal; enable a cause to fulfill its mission and, in some cases, assist a community in recovering from turmoil. COMMERCE Magazine's March 2015 issue features a Special Chairman's Section on "Companies that Care: Giving Back, Paying it Forward" providing details of the award and citing the Goldstein Lieberman & Company Cares Program in particular.

In 2009, the partners and employees of Goldstein Lieberman & Company LLC established the Goldstein Lieberman & Company Cares Program as a lifeline for the region’s not-for-profits during the recession. "Many businesses were cutting their donations to local charities in their struggle to stay afloat and not-for-profits who depended on their donations were suffering," explains Phillip E. Goldstein, managing partner. "We wanted to help our local charities and challenge other businesses to do the same." GLCPAS gave a meaningful donation to a different local not-for-profit every month and publicized the event to bring attention to the work of the charity. Today there are countless recipients accounting for contributions totaling well over $350,000. The initiative also garnered GLCPAS Rockland Business Association’s coveted Pinnacle Award for Corporate Service.
